A small group of young successful businessmen and professionals, with many interests and aspirations in common, and sharing the mission TO SERVE, organized themselves on September 17, 1987. With a vision of a better world through effective Lionism, these young executives met with the officers of the local affiliate of the most prestigious service organization in the world, The Lions Club.

The Dumaguete City Host Lions Club, a local affiliate of the Lions Club International, conducted a series of orientation meetings with these young executives on the ideals of service and Lionism. The Metro Dumaguete Lions Club was born. It was chartered by the International Association of Lions Clubs on March 2, 1988.

In 1989, the Club had an Inter-Club Twinning ceremony with the Cebu Sinulog Lions Club in Dumaguete City. Signatories were Lion President Julio “Jun” Sy Jr. and Lion President Johnny Uy from the Cebu Sinulog Lions Club.

The young men of the Metro Dumaguete Lions Club are constantly finding ways to be able to reach out to the less fortunate members of the community. Their projects are testimony to their zeal and determination to uplift lives.
